My Morning Routine

7:00AM

First alarm goes off. I ignore it.

7:30AM

I’m up! First things first, I check my social media accounts, followed by email. I’m working on this though. My goal this year is to start my day without any incoming “interference”, in order to stay in control of the trajectory of my day. Have you ever woken up to a email or text from your boss/client/etc. that immediately put you in “omg I have to do A, B & C before 2pm or the world is literally over” mode? Just me? I’m learning its better to start your day based on your own intention, so that’s what I’m doing!…I digress.

8:05AM

Now this is where working from home gets you caught up. In this moment, I have to decide if I’m going to dress like a human or remain in full pajama mode. Option one: a little makeup. Comb my hair. Option two: I’m going to put my sloth clothes back on and hide behind a computer screen. Don’t you dare judge me.

Today, we’re getting dressed!

8:45AM

Coffee Time. More decisions here. I can go with a k-cup do a quick cup of joe on the Keurig. But, neigh. Today, I want a little luxury. I want the cafe experience. And, I’m kind of excited that I’ve gotten a new haul of Blk & Bold Ethiopian Coffee that needs to be tested. I’ll be partnering with Blk & Bold this year as a Brand Ambassador (Heeey, Brew Crew!). They gifted me with some goods, so expect to see more.

Anyway, it’s time to get the French Press poppin. I like to use my French Press with fresh, coarsely ground coffee. You don’t want it too fine, or else it will muddy up a bit and pass through the filter after you steep it. When you do it right, you get a super silky texture with your coffee.

9:15AM

I’m diving into the workload. Responding to those email from earlier. Logging into my Honeybook dashboard to see where I’m at with current projects (Note: I’ll be working on a post soon to talk about how Honeybook has literally been a game changer for my business). I’m also nursing this drink for a looooong time. No seriously, my old coworkers use to think I was a little cooky for re-heating the same damn cup of coffee over and over for hours. It’s just who I am.

10:30AM

Editing Party (sometimes called Editing Jail). This is where I sit and edit photos in Lightroom and Photoshop. I shouldn’t call it jail! It’s actually one of my favorite times, where I get to really sit down and get creative with my art. I sincerely love that part! It can get a little time consuming, though.

11:45AM

My eyes need a break and it’s time for me to head out for a quick meeting! Later peeps.
