3 Freebies You Can Offer Your Audience + Outfit of the Day

Well, hello there!

I’m feeling really energized after taking a bit of a breather this holiday season. We launched a pretty cool Black Friday campaign over at Drea & Co. Home. It was awesome! But to be transparent - I was pooped afterwards. I decided to take some time to slow down and really enjoy the season with family, friends and my own thoughts. Stepping away from social media posting, blogging and some of the day-to-day marketing was so valuable and allowed for a ton of clarity on my goals.

Anywho, I ended my little hiatus with an incredible creative retreat, Connect. Collab. Create. Hosted by Starla Kay Mathis. A group of creative entrepreneurs and bloggers gathered up for an overnight, mega workshop. It was so good. We reviewed our 2019 wins and goals for next year, in a beautiful space. We Mastermind-ed and helped one another plot out business strategies for 2020. Gems were dropped and fun was had. Among many of the themes we discussed, one question came up that I wanted to give some quick tips on: “What kind of freebies can I offer my audience to add value and grow my business?” I love this question because it applies to so many businesses that use content marketing as a way of attaining more leads. So, let’s discuss a few ways you can create some really easy freebies. Plus, outfit deets on my new favorite look = leather skirt + oversized blazer and over the knee boots.

Online Courses

Most business owners have read enough marketing tips to know that the “freebie” is a go to tactic for increasing your audience size. It’s a really great way to offer your tribe a valuable, digital good in exchange for their trust - ie. signing up for your email list with the agreement you will not spam the heck out of them. With that said, there’s a good chance that your audience is looking for something a little more sophisticated and valuable than the one page pdf lists that worked back in the day.

Enter one of my favorite options, the online course. You see them all over the web and they are an incredible way to offer your skills and information to someone that can benefit from your expertise. And yes, you do have expertise! Now, admittedly this freebie could be viewed as intimidating or difficult to implement. Your concerns are valid, but this can be easier than you think. My suggestion - don’t overthink your online course process. Especially one that is branded as a freebie. You can create a very short and concise course or webinar with a few power point slides, and turn it into something really valuable. So keep that in mind. Think about what kind of information you can pass on to your peeps and get to work! You can use platforms like Kajabi to create your course, or you could design slides in Power Point or Canva. Get creative and think about ways to keep things simple and straight to the point.

PRESETS

This is a great option for photographers. These days, almost everyone with an online presence is looking for a quick way to edit their photos for social media or blog use. Presets offer an easy way to add some razzle dazzle to your photos with one or two clicks. They are similar to “filters” but allow you to maintain more control of your image settings so that you can tweak and perfect your photos. If you’re a photographer building your brand, you can easily create Presets in Lightroom and package them up as a digital download. Of course, you can sell them too - but having one or two available as freebie or a bonus product is a great way to give back to your audience and show a little love.

And this is where I remind you that yep! Drea & Co. has beautiful presets available on The Syllabus for free download. Let us know what you think!

SCRIPTS AND TEMPLATES

One very important component of a good freebie is that it solves a problem for your audience. One way you can do that, is by making your future client’s life easier. Pre written scripts and templates are a great way to accomplish that. Let’s look at an example.

Let’s say you’re a copywriter and you spend a good deal of your time writing web copy, social media or blog articles. You could come up with a week or a month of pre-written Instagram captions for your peeps. All they may need to do is revise and plug in personal anecdotes and details. This is something that you could likely whip up in a couple hours or less. Meanwhile, you will be saving someone hours of agony, because writing captions just isn’t their thing.

Whatever freebie you choose, just remember that its all about giving value! Don’t overthink it. Test some freebies out, and if they don’t work - move on to another one to see what resonates.
