A Day with Zaya Rum

The Life of a Hustler!

Let me tell y’all something about this content creator, photographer, blogger, while still working a 9 to 5 life! It can get a little hectic but the payoff is so sweet. I know we all lead busy lives these days, but there is a unique balancing act of the digital content creator life that I know some of my readers can relate to. It’s the “glam” on screen, surrounded by the not-so-pretty reality of getting alllll the things done. Scheduling photoshoots, writing copy, managing multiple projects and deadlines. So what fuels you to push through? For me, its the art. The passion. The creativity! It is truly an outlet of all of the visions swirling around in my head! Sharing that with others is just priceless….

The folks over at Zaya Rum truly value creatives, entrepreneurs and mixologists and that means so much to bloggers like myself. I spend most of my days doing a mixture of photoshoots, recipe development, product shipments and weird dancing in my living room and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way 💃🏾

#Ad I’m so excited to be partnering with @ZayaRum and sharing the goods on this “triumphant, confident and sophisticated” brand that is serving up an amazing dark rum!

When I first discovered @ZayaRum, I immediately fell in love with their branding, visuals, moody tones (y’all know I’ma sucka for that) and I knew I needed to give it a try. It did not disappoint! The flavors of this rum are so rich and pair incredibly well with tropical cocktails, spiked punches and ciders. I developed two amazing cocktail recipes that I will definitely keep in my rotation! Check them out below, as well as a glimpse into my life as a content creator and food photographer!

A Day In The Life With Zaya Rum

Pear Cider Cocktail

  • 1.5 oz Zaya Grand Reserve Rum

  • 0.5 oz Pear Liqueur

  • 1 oz Orgeat Syrup or Almond Syrup

  • 2 oz Lime or Lemon Juice

  • 1 Slice of Pear, chopped and muddled (optionally, purée)

  • 2 Dashes Cinnamon

  • 1 Dash Nutmeg

Shake all ingredients in a shaker with crushed ice, for 30-60 seconds. Empty full contents of shaker into a short glass, and add ice as needed. Garnish with a pear slice and cinnamon sticks.

This drink gets better as you sip, while the spices continue to develop. That makes it great for a batch recipe as well, so you can “steep” this while entertaining guests. Just multiply the measurements by how many people you will be serving, and mix in a pitcher without ice 🍐🍐

Grapefruit Basil Mojito

  • 1.5 oz Zaya Grand Reserve Rum

  • 1.5 to 2 oz Basil Grapefruit Simple Syrup (you can find these pre-made, or you can make your own)

  • 1.5 Lime Juice

  • 0.5 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice (Optional)

  • Fresh Mint Leaves

  • Club Soda to Top

Combine Zaya Rum, basil grapefruit simple syrup, lime juice and grapefruit juice in a cocktail shaker. Shake with your fresh mint leaves without ice. I prefer to dry shake my mint with the cocktail, and then pour the ingredients over ice in a glass. After pouring over ice, garnish with additional fresh mint and top with club soda.

This mojito KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF! Mojitos have been one of my favorite cocktails for ages. It makes me all nostalgic thinking of vacations on the beach with my best gal pals! I’m a huge mint-cocktail fan, so for me its a match made in heaven. I was curious of how a dark rum would pair with this classic drink, so I figured why not push the boundaries a little? I think what makes this work so well is the rich caramel notes in the rum. They pair perfectly with the spicy basil and grapefruit! I used a simple syrup here, but you could certainly stay the traditional path and use granulated cane sugar.
